Our History
ADETUR, Consulting and Development of Tourism Companies, was born in San José, Costa Rica, 21 years ago with the firm purpose of providing assistance in tourism to small and very small tourism companies, hotels, restaurants, artisans, local communities and also as a local receptive travel agency.
In 2004 we moved from San José to the Canton of Naranjo in the Province of Alajuela in Western Costa Rica. The Canton of Naranjo is a world-renowned coffee producer with little tourism. It was necessary to investigate, visit and explore the Canton to catalog its attractions and offer them to the tourist market and sell a different product that could be combined with other attractions in Western Costa Rica.
As for our Consulting Department, we had the opportunity to serve the public and private sectors of the national tourism market equally. Among our clients we have to mention and thank for trusting in our services the Network of Small Hotels of Costa Rica, Fedoma (Western Federation of Municipalities of Alajuela), CR Bungee Jumping of Puente Rio Colorado, Empresa Finca de Café Monterosa and Tostadora Bazú for a who we assist with the commercialization of two brands of coffee: Chonete and Boleto and using these two brands to be part of businesses related to tourism. We were also, as event organizers, in charge of organizing training courses, executive meetings, familiarization trips, press familiarization
trips, webinars, debates and cultural events, among others.
Projects
Since 2010 we strongly support and are part of the Municipal Tourism Commission of Naranjo in the Canton and we produced for them, from the idea to the execution, two important projects that saw the light: the Naranjo Tourist Photography Contest (now in the 5th version) which was the first of its kind in Costa Rica and the first in Latin America and the Pilot Plan for Accessible Tourist Destinations. Both projects
were not only approved by the Municipal Tourism Commission of Naranjo in the Canton, by the Mayor, the Municipal Assembly, but also by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (I.C.T. – National Tourism Council). The Accessible Tourism Pilot Plan project was developed with the help of the University of La Rochelle in France, Grupo Exelia and the leading participation of Loreto Ibáñez, teacher and director, who raised the idea of sending students from France to carry out a project called Humacité and support with their work and research a new tourist and human
perspective for the disadvantaged inhabitants of the Canton.
We are committed to the Accessibility and Inclusion projects in our Canton and to include these issues in the Tourism Agenda. We have been part of several activities and events where Inclusion, Accessibility and Tourism walked together on the same ground. Our experience in tourism, events, logistics and organization played an important role when we were part of the organization of a tour that Escuela República de Colombia proposed for students with disabilities. We also supported the NGO Talita Cumi when they accepted the visit and assistance of students from the USA to learn how this NGO works with disabled adults and help with their projects: a Butterfly Garden, a Recycling Program and a Horticulture Project with limited supply. of water. and without soil.
Working with and for the community has been demanding and we cover different activities including the Naranjo Public Library and the República de Colombia Elementary School.
